Furniture Provided to Communities in 11 Countries and 17 U.S. States
(Concord, NH) Through the first six months of 2026, The Reuse Network has provided more than 31,000 items of furniture to nonprofit organizations helping disadvantaged communities around the world.
The Reuse Network completed 41 projects for clients in 14 states, including school districts in Massachusetts, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Texas, and Vermont, colleges and universities in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, and the District of Columbia, and for government agencies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Items provided to charities included some 12,000 pieces of seating, 8,700 desks, 3,000 tables, 2,800 dressers, bookshelves, and other storage, 1,800 beds and 3,000 mattresses.
The majority of school furnishings were provided to communities in impoverished and war-torn countries overseas. Fifteen nongovernment organizations are distributing desks, chairs, activity tables, and other classroom items in countries in Africa, Central America, and the Middle East. Residential furnishings largely stayed in the United States – for hurricane and flood relief in the Southeast, regional furniture banks, independent schools, Habitat for Humanity ReStores, and even a volunteer fire department near Philadelphia.
The tempo continues through the summer, The Reuse Network’s busiest season. Among other projects, upcoming weeks will see shipments of mattresses from New York, residential furniture from Pennsylvania and Connecticut, office furnishings from Massachusetts, and classroom furniture from North Carolina, California, and New Hampshire.
“Summer’s the season of renovations and refits,” says Mark Lennon, IRN’s CEO. “When students are out and new furniture’s on its way, that’s when we come in to give the old furniture a second life.”
“We don’t take summer vacations.”
