What we do

We work with organizations that want to keep used but usable furniture out of the landfill. We provide our clients’ furnishings to nonprofits across the U.S. and around the world for disaster relief and economic development.

We’re matchmakers: We match inventories of usable used furniture from American organizations with needy recipients across the U.S. and worldwide.

We’re project managers: Besides finding the furniture a new home, we manage the project to get it there. We hire and supervise labor, set up and manage transportation, oversee packing of trucks and trailers, complete trucking and customs paperwork, and send your furniture on its way to a new home.

We’re information managers and reporters: We provide you with detailed documentation on exactly what you’ve provided for reuse, and where it’s gone.

We work directly with K-12 schools and districts, colleges, healthcare systems, and companies throughout the US that are committed to Sustainability.

We also work with dealers, movers, and manufacturers who want to offer their clients a better option than throwing usable furniture away.

What we are

  • The Most Experienced. We’ve been doing this for more than 20 years, across more than 2,000 projects. We’re very, very good at it.
  • A 100% Solution.  The Reuse Network takes responsibility for 100% of your used furnishings.  If there are items that are damaged or unfit for reuse, we’ll have them recycled.
  • Easy to Work With.  Working with The Reuse Network is as simple as throwing furniture away. Instead of parking dumpsters on your site, we bring trailers.  We fill the trailers with furniture and they drive away.
  • Cost-Effective.  One trailer loaded for reuse holds as much as three or four large rolloff containers. There’s a cost for the trailer, but it is competitive with the cost of throwing furniture away.
  • Environmentally Preferable. Reuse keeps tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds of still-valuable assets out of the landfill.
  • Most Beneficial for Society. Our clients’ furnishings help children and families who otherwise would have none at all, because of war, natural disaster, or long-term poverty.
  • Great Public Relations.  Great PR:  Usable used furniture helping underprivileged communities.  Terrible PR: Usable furniture heading to the landfill in dumpsters.

What’s the process?

Working with The Reuse Network is straightforward. Our job to make reuse as easy as throwing furniture away. But instead of filling dumpsters like trash guys, we fill trailers and give your furniture a second life.

To get started, we need two pieces of information:

  1. What’s the Inventory? How many and what kinds of items need to go away. Photographs are invaluable. This is what we offer to our network of charitable partners. They want and need to know what they’re getting.
  2. Who will provide labor to remove the furniture? Often, this is a mover or installer hired by our client. Sometimes it’s a client’s own Facilities staff. Or IRN can supply labor from our own network of moving/installation partners.

With this information, we prepare a proposal and a not-to-exceed budget. When you give us the go-ahead, we make the match with charities and schedule the moving crew and trailers. On project day they arrive at the site, the furnishings are removed and loaded, and the trailers drive away. As simple as if they were dumpsters, but, much, much better.

Why work with The Reuse Network?

We are, by far, the largest and most experienced managers of surplus assets for reuse in the United States.

We are the one-stop shop for surplus assets. We handle projects from start to finish. We handle all aspects of project planning and implementation. We assure that reuse is cost-competitive with throwing furniture into a landfill – and often costs 10% to 20% less.

Across 20+ years of successful experience, our core commitment has not changed: Reduce waste, put economically valuable materials back in the economy, and demonstrate that intelligent resource management through reuse and recycling makes social, environmental, and financial sense.
